ABOUT THE FILM 
BRIEF SYNOPSIS 
After their mother’s death, a cognitively disabled woman and her estranged sister must learn to communicate in order to move forward. 

LONG SYNOPSIS 
Anna is an adult with a Cognitive Disability living with her mother in Midland Florida. When her mother is unresponsive, she calls her sister for help, but without the language to be believed, Anna is brushed aside. 

Emily returns home and is immediately engulfed in a futile struggle for medical information, while Anna’s world is deconstructed. In this sadness, Anna sees the bigger picture and with a straightforward strength, Anna holds her own. The uncertainty for the sisters’ future independence remains but they are now a team against all odds.

ANNA SARGENT - Anna 

Anna Sargent (she/her) is a Korean American Adoptee and the youngest child of eleven. She grew up in the midwest and now resides with her parents in Orlando Florida. Anna was born with a cyst on her brain leaving her with little short term memory and various degrees of cognitive and physical disabilities. This is her first time acting but she is a natural.  Anna plays Special Olympics tennis, bowling, pickleball and basketball. She finds joy and solace in High School Musical, Zombies and Idina Menzel. 

JEENA YI - Emily 

Jeena Yi (she/her) is a Korean American actor born in LA and now based in NYC. Jeena’s recent credits include The Resident (FOX), Modern Love (Amazon), Only Murders in the Building (HULU) Succession (HBO) UPCOMING: Nyad (Netflix). Jeena is no stranger to the stage, some recent highlights: Network starring Bryan Cranston (Broadway), Good Enemy (Audible Theater) Judgment Day (Park Avenue Armory), Somebody’s Daughter (2nd Stage).

Liz Sargent is a Korean American Adoptee whose award-winning work explores themes of adoption, disability and family. As a Writer/Director she incorporates her background as a choreographer into visual storytelling that channels complex human emotions that are an extension of her experience as the middle child of eleven and an exploration of  her intersectional identity.

Liz Sargent is a Korean-American adoptee whose award-winning work explores themes of adoption, disability, and family. As a writer-director, she incorporates her background as a choreographer into visual storytelling that channels complex human emotions that are an extension of her experience as the middle child of eleven and recognize her intersectional identity.

Her film TAKE ME HOME won the Julia S. Gouw Fellowship with CAPE and Janet Yang Productions, a Reel Sisters Fellowship, Asian Women Giving Circle grant and raised 30K on Kickstarter.  Festivals: Sundance Santa Barbara IFF, SXSW, with Academy Qualifying wins at LAAPFF Golden Reel Best Short & deadCenter Film Festival Special Grand Jury Best Film.  

The short film STRANGERS’ REUNION about an adoptee reunion was one of five films chosen by Ritz-Carlton and Hearst to be made with mentorship by Mike Figgis and production by RSA Hong Kong. The film was released online, worldwide in 6 languages and won Best Director at Diversity in Cannes and Best Screenplay at Brand FF London.

Liz incorporates her background as a choreographer trained at North Carolina School of the Arts into her commercial and experimental work. The short film SLOW DOWN: River To River was broadcast on PBS and won a NY Emmy. Experimental dance film collaborations include work with Pam Tanowitz and Fisher Center at Bard, Eiko Otake and Jacob’s Pillow, and Adrienne Westwood and Angelica Negron. 

The extension of her personal stories have been told through podcasts and in her award winning story slam at the Korean American Story ROAR in Chicago. She is a two time Ryan Murphy HALF Initiative Mentee, NBCU Directing Fellowship Semi-Finalist 2023, AICP Mentee with Edward Grann at mssg pces, a member of the Gold House Creator Network, and producer with Cyprian Films New York.



PRODUCER: MINOS PAPAS
A London-born Greek-Cypriot, Minos Papas is a Tribeca and NY Emmy award-winning Producer and Director, with over 20 years of professional experience. His first gig was pulling focus on 16mm for a German ZDF TV crew at the age of 16. Minos comes from a family of acclaimed filmmakers and he grew up on sets and in projection booths.

After his mandatory military service, Minos moved to NYC from Cyprus in 1999 to formalize his film education at the School of Visual Arts. After picking up the school's best cinematography award, he established Cyprian Films, New York (CFNY) to make independent films, documentaries and commercial videos.

Since then, CFNY's films have been sold and distributed commercially, and have screened at major festivals and markets winning awards and distinctions at the Tribeca Film Festival and the NY EMMYs. He is a member of the Director's Guild of Cyprus. His next film “Motherwitch” is an international co-production with Cyprus, Canada and Austria in development.

Minos has enjoyed working with Martin Scorsese, filming Scarlett Johansson, and having his work compared to David Lynch in the press. He is into Tarkovsky, Kubrick, football (soccer), death metal and kittens.
